The Big Takeover, Fall Issue #73:
“This EP by St. Louis quartet Picture Day packs an LP's-worth of guitar-pop hooks. The BoDeans' heartland jangle meets the dB's southern alt-rock vibe on "Madoline," wherein Brian Wiegert's vocal style blends the smooth delivery of Semisonic's Dan Wilson with the rhythmic punch of former Soul Coughing frontman Mike Doughty. Tight rim shots and staccato guitar introduce "Immaterial," reminiscent of "Blood Money" from the Church's Starfish album (if it were transposed into a major key). The song's crashing chorus thunders with Cheap Trick's primal glam, slashed by Jordan Ross' darting guitar lines. Riff-rocker "One of Us" veers toward heavier pop, like "Green Eyed Lady" on steroids. When its sweet harmonies sail into the chorus, the song suggests an Archies tune subverted by Guided By Voices and math-rockers Hum. (picturedaystl.bandcamp.com)"

Track Name: Immaterial
I called across the room,
You were calling too
I was immune
Was so easy then,
How we just made friends
But then again

There comes a constant sound
Immaterial thing that never was in doubt

And then you’d set a date,
Said you’d make me wait
I won’t be late
I waited patiently
But there was no relief
Or, not for me

I’ll always be around,
or I’m allowed to be found,
or there is only what you doubt

Then it came to me, how this all would work
It was absurd
